BCIS Notes

ASCII White: Super computer,8000 units together speed of 12 trillion, silicon center,367 ton chillers keep the super computer from overheating,

Before computers were invented people collected data and they were called computers but they often made mistakes. But humans weren’t good enough so

Analytical enigine-a prototype computer,steam driven,never completed

19th century- the immigrants messed up the cenus

Herman Holloway- made the work on census workers easier by a census machine, 62,652,620 people were accounted for, he commercialized his invention and became a millstone for the country

Before the 1930s mechanial machines were used to keep records

Collosus- a machine used to break the German code which the biggest war secret of the world

1943- firing tables for artillery (WWII)

The Eniac-100 feet and 80 tons, 6,00 switches, 18,000 delegate vacuum tubes that had to be changed every few minutes, it could be re configured to solve other problems

The Eniac concluded that computers could be invented

UNIVAC- computer company first computer to be mass produced

The computer predicted the President Eisenhower would win the presidential race.

You Create A Solution Pt.1

Created by Shanice Washington, Monique Wheatle, and De’Marcus Williams

Our problem: teen pregnacy

The cause: young girls think that sex is the best way for you to express love.

The affects: they end up having children that they cant take care of and the mother herself ends up emotionally and mentally scared. the fathers have to get jobs in order to support the mother and child and they usually end up dropping out of school to have a full time job so in the end the father do not have a chance to have or to finish his education.

The people affected: the parents; mother, father. the parents of the children and the child its self

This problem has been around since the 60’s but was kept in secret and the young girl was sent away until the baby was born, in those times baby’s were being put up for adoption but recently teen pregnancy is a common thing in society

Creators of the problem: The young man and woman that engaged in the sexual activity

Solutions: Abortion, Birth control (contraceptive), condoms, and adoption

Birth control regulates the monthly period and keeps the mother from possibly having a child and a condom keeps the sperm from reaching the egg

Teen pregnancy causes unplanned children to be born that aren’t taken good care of, alot of these children are fatherless or motherless or both and born with a hard life from the beginning.

Blog Review

  1. My first blog was about what I knew about computers.
  2. These websites are blogging websites.
  3. A blog is basically an online journal where you express thoughts and feelings of yourself or others.
  4. You shouldn’t send an email when you are mad, you should think about the consequences and then wait till the next day to send an email.
  5. No, you shouldn’t because its distracting and difficult to read.
  6. Spam
  7. Yes you should so people will know what you are talking about.
  8. Use tabs on the web page
  9. A search engine

Search Engines

1.The three search engines I used were Yahoo!, Google, and Ask.com.

2.The first website was www.cherishsisters.com and it was the same for each search engine
3.I think that Yahoo! is the best because everything is on it, easier to search on and I use it all the time.

4.

  • Barack Obama: Yahoo!- barackobama.com, wikipedia.com Google-barackobama.com, wikipedia.com Ask.com- barackobama.com, yellowpages.com/austin
  • Sarah Palin: Yahoo!- wikipedia.com, johnmccain.com Google-wikipedia.com, gov.state.ak.us. Ask.com-MTV.com, johnmccain.com
  • The Rolling Stones: Yahoo!- rollingstones.com, wikipedia.com Google- rollingstones.com, wikipedia.com Ask.com-rollingstones.com, wikipedia
  • Britney Spears: britneyspears.com, wikipedaia.com Google- britneyspears.com, wikipedia.com Ask.com- britneyspears.com, askmen.com
  • Jazmine Sullivan: Yahoo!- myspace.com/jazminesullivan, wikipedia.com Google- myspace.com/jazminesullivan ,youtube.com Ask.com- jazminesullivanmusic.com, myspace.com/jazminesullivan

Alot of the search engines gave me either official websites or the wikipedia website with their biography. I got some crazy ones that really didn’t have nothing to do with the person I was searching or advertisment sites selling their cds or merchandise.

5. Read it!!

6.All of the sites show the initial website being www.wikipedia.org

New Technologies

Coke’s New Green Vending Machines:”Like Taking 218,000 Cars Off The Road For Two Weeks”

Coca-Cola created a new cooler called eKOfresh for its soft drinks that cuts its greenhouse gas emissions. These new coolers combine HFC-free insulation and refrigerants with an energy-saving system that improves energy-efficiency over the usual soda machine coolers.  The coolers were first introduced in the 2004 Olympics but didn’t receive the attention and support  that it’s receiving in the 2008 Olympic games.  Nothing is really different about the soda machines accept the concept of cutting greenhouse gases and new eco-friendly design. Using this soda machine instead of the others will help in fight against global warming and will in the furture make the earth a better place.

6. Seek wristband GPS, MP3 player

Seek created a GPS and MP3 player on a wristband. It has a pull out touchscreen that shows you were you going and also plays music. There is no set release date.

The one idea that I choose that I felt was the best was the keyboard that can be washed (see #5). This keyboard is safe and hygenic, I feel that keyboards hold alot of germs and if it can be washed then that makes it alot better.

What I Know About Computers….

I have been around computers all my life. My daddy is an IT specialist and therefore since I am a daddy’s girl, I know a lot about computers. Computers are complicated and complex machines that store memory. Computers first started out very slow and not very efficent like the computers of today. There are various codes and programs that are put into the creation of a computer to better suit companies, schools and for personal use. The creation of the computer was to make life easier for the common people that work day to day, in a since computers help trees because not so much is put on paper anymore. Every aspect of the computer is created to contribute to a computer in some kind of way whether it’s small or large. I know most of computer companies such as Dell, IBM, Apple/Mac, and HP. Computers are more than just Myspace and YouTube.
